About Us
Architecture and landscapes designed for the way you live, gather, and grow.
Living Architecture is a family-owned residential architecture and landscape design studio serving North Atlanta.
We specialize in environmentally responsive, lifestyle-driven design -creating homes and landscapes that feel connected to the land, support healthy living, and work beautifully in daily life.
Our work often begins with challenges: steep slopes, stormwater, stream buffers, or complex zoning. We thrive on solving these technical issues while keeping the design vision intact.
Our Story
Living Architecture is more than a design studio - it’s a family legacy. Run by a father and daughter, our work is rooted in the belief that home should reflect both lifestyle and longevity. Being family-owned shapes how we approach every project: collaborative, approachable, and grounded in trust.
We design spaces that feel connected to daily life while standing the test of time. Places to gather, grow, and create lasting memories. At Living Architecture, family is not just at the center of our story, it’s at the center of everything we design.
Our team
Lead Designer
Tom Flowers
Tom is the creative heart of the practice. For him, design is about solving problems - navigating complex codes, site challenges, and technical details to make projects possible. With over 40 years of experience in architecture and landscape architecture, he brings wisdom and steady guidance to every project. As both a registered landscape architect and licensed general contractor, he designs with a builder’s knowledge, ensuring every concept is not only visionary but also constructible.
Architectural Director
Hannah Barry
Hannah is the practical anchor of the design process. She ensures every project runs smoothly by coordinating with designers, engineers, contractors, and city officials. For her, design is about creating healthy, sustainable environments , but always grounded in practicality. She’s as focused on budgets, construction details, and contractor coordination as she is on lifestyle and daily rhythms, making sure great design works in the real world. Clients look to her not only for her sense of feasibility and detail in concept design, but also for the reassurance that every logistical piece is handled.
Our Design Values
-
We believe good design should leave a light footprint. From material selection to water-wise planting and energy efficiency, we integrate sustainability into every stage of the process so that each project benefits both people and the environment.
-
A home doesn’t stop at the walls. We design spaces that flow naturally between inside and outside, encouraging daily interaction with nature and expanding how families experience their homes.
-
Design should support well-being. Our work prioritizes natural light, fresh air, movement, and outdoor living to create environments that encourage healthier, more balanced lifestyles.
-
Vision means little if it can’t be realized. We balance creativity with constructability, ensuring every detail of our designs is thoughtfully planned and practical to build.
-
As a family-owned business, we understand the importance of home as a gathering place. We design spaces where families can grow, connect, and make lasting memories, with flexibility to adapt as life evolves.
-
Every site has a story. We respond to climate, topography, and ecology, designing with sensitivity so that each project feels rooted in place and naturally integrated with its surroundings.
-
We value design that stands the test of time. Instead of following trends, we focus on enduring forms, durable materials, and solutions that age gracefully and remain relevant for generations.
-
Good design comes from good relationships. We approach projects as a true partnership with homeowners, contractors, and consultants - grounded in open communication, respect, and trust.
-
We see design as both art and science. Our work combines creative vision with technical expertise, solving complex site, zoning, and construction challenges while delivering spaces that inspire.
